BRON & SUSTAINABILITY

As a family-owned business, Bron naturally focuses on continuity — and sustainability fits seamlessly into that long-term perspective. We don’t see ourselves as operating on a business “island,” but rather as an integral part of society and the planet.

That’s why we believe it’s our responsibility to contribute to a better, greener world. Having taken our first steps toward sustainability, we’re now teaming up with the change-makers at De Groene Afslag to explore the next creative and innovative improvements to our operations.

Circular Gold

Gold is one of the most important materials in our jewelry. At Bron, all the gold we use is recycled — it has already lived a previous life. Even though we don’t use newly mined gold, we still choose to add one kilo of Fairmined gold to our production each year to support responsible and ethical gold mining.

Gold is precious, which is why we treat this resource with the utmost care. Every day, we collect gold dust and scrap from our production process. Together with old gold returned by our customers, we send this material back to our supplier, where it’s refined and reintroduced into the production cycle. Gold is, after all, the ultimate circular material.

Made to Last

Bron jewelry is designed in the Netherlands and crafted to last a lifetime, and beyond. Many of our pieces are passed down from one generation to the next. Known for our excellent service, we work closely with our partner jewelers to ensure your jewelry stays beautiful for as long as possible.

In 2025, we launched the Bron Vintage initiative. Jewelry that is no longer worn, for whatever reason, can be returned to us. Our workshops restore these pieces, giving them a second life and a new story. It’s a meaningful way to extend the life and enjoyment of every jewel.

Atelier of the Future

Bron operates a large atelier in Schoonhoven and a smaller one next to our boutique in Naarden Vesting. Our skilled artisans combine traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Both ateliers are bright, sustainable, and future-ready, designed with responsible use of materials, chemicals, and energy in mind.

Gemstones & Transparency

Our sourcing team carefully evaluates each gemstone for its color, quality, and unique character. We don’t aim for the lowest price — instead, we work with trusted international suppliers we’ve partnered with for decades. While this offers a level of confidence in our supply chain, we must acknowledge that we don’t yet have full visibility into the exact origin of every gemstone.

For our Madagascan sapphires, however, we’ve launched a pilot project in collaboration with a Danish partner. In this case, the mine and every step of the production process are 100% transparent. We know the gemstones are sourced under fair working conditions, and part of the premium we pay is invested in nature conservation projects in Madagascar.

Giving Back to Mother Earth

Step by step, we’re moving our company in a greener direction. Still, we inevitably draw on the Earth’s resources and that’s why we believe in giving something back.

During the COVID crisis, we started small with the sale of Bron smileys. The full proceeds of €500 per smiley are donated to a cause chosen by the customer: bees, birds, or trees.

A Greener Tomorrow

We’ve also committed to setting aside 1% of our annual revenue to invest in nature projects, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Together with our partner Trees for All, we’ve already supported several reforestation initiatives. We've also helped restore historic hedgerows on estate lands. Small efforts that make a big difference in promoting biodiversity.
